An Iyaganku Chief Magistrate court has remanded in prison custody, a 59 year old ex-student of Government College Ibadan, Debo Adegbola over a three count charge bothering on indecent touching, sexual assault and breach of public peace.
The accused, who is an automobile dealer who pleaded not guilty to the charges had on Saturday, 17th February, 2024, at a burial party in a popular event center along poly Eleyele road in Ibadan, indecently touched the victim in sensitive parts of her body publicly without her consent.
Adebowale, was also said to have slapped the victim, who is an Ibadan based female legal practitioner countless number of times in the process of the assault.
Still not satisfied, Debo Adegbola was alleged to have picked up a bottle and smashed it on the head of the victim, thereby breaking her skull in the process, causing her grievious injury leaving her in a pool of blood before she was rushed to a private hospital around Bodija area of Ibadan for first aid treatment before she was later transferred to another hospital in Lagos for proper medical attention.

Rulling on the bail application, His worship, O.O Ogunkanmi admitted the accused to a bail of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.

The court also ordered that the sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court, while one must have a landed property with verifiable C-of-O, while the other one must be a blood relation of the accused standing trial.
While adjourning till the 16th of May, 2024, the accused is to be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional service pending when he is able to perfect his bail condition.

You need to be careful with your responses. Debo we know and Folake we know. A lot of people in Ibadan thought Debo to be a perfect gentleman until tales about his wife's ordeals in his hands came to the fore after the Daylan incident . Do pictures lie or did Folake injure herself. Debo needs to learn to manage his temper and stop being vindictive...him attacking Folake was a pure case of mistaken identity, if you know, you know. When people are alleged to have committed a crime, why would anyone include one of their alma maters in the headline as though the school had anything to do with it. This man left GCI more than 40 years ago. He went to a tertiary institution after that. Yet, this 'report' used the secondary school as headline description of the man. Whoever wrote this and approved the publishing cannot be described as true journalists. Mr Adegbola should bear his father's name. Leave his secondary school out of this.

Yes, he came to you and only God knows what your conversation was about but he said he came to apologize for whatever happened in Lagos last year. Next, we saw you shouting and saying all sorts and then all we saw was you slapping him.
Folake, you slapped this man first, his hand didn’t even touch you when he tried because his friend carried him immediately. Yes, he poured the drink in his glass at you. At no time did his hand touch you nor did he hit you with anything. He was whisked out of the hall in no time. I was even telling one of my friends the scene reminded me of The rock and Kevin Hart only to hear later that you claimed he slapped you twice and hit a bottle on you.
If you’re fighting for his wife, we understand your grouse but who on earth hasn’t made a mistake he/she isn’t proud of at some point in our lives. Even you have and I’m sure it’s not once. But you instead are really bent on destroying this man. To what end, I ask. To what end?!

DeleteI guess a few people have it in for Debo Adegbola and it's unfortunate people are not being objective here. This blog and comments is a reflection of our Ibadan social community reeked with envy and disloyalty. Does Folake Abiodun have monopoly on violence? NO. I make bold to say that Debo did not slap Folake at the party or break a bottle on her head but something transpired which got Folake angry. Should he have walked up to her in the first place for whatever reason? No, the party was not the time or place. Debo should have walked away? YES. But truth is all that is neither here or there anymore. This story is going to be old news in a few months. I am just imploring Folake to please forgive and let it go. Life is just too transient. It's amazing how Debo and Folake's social circle has crisscrossed, the amount of mutual friends/ acquaintances they have which makes me wish this incident never happened. But we all live and learn. DeleteIt’s amazing how people can talk from both sides of their mouth. The “eye witness” who states Debo went to talk to Folake and followed with “only God knows what their conversation was” - which one is it witness.

There are 3 sides to every story. He said, she said, and the truth. The truth seen here is that Folake had to be taken to the hospital for stitches from the altercation with Debo. So l ask which anonymous man/woman here will want to have an altercation with anyone at a party? No one! When we are not area boys/girls.
E pa fi été sile, ke ma pa lapalapa! What is bad is bad - How can a decent man allow things go haywire in his home, let alone a party. What happened to apologizing and walking away before things got out of hand. We are almost 60 for Christ sake and should know better.
Hopefully this situation can be amicably settled out of court. Debo, man up and go and sincerely apologize which you should have done before things got to this point nau! This is not about pride. Now your other skeleton is out of the closet which l pray you fix too. There is too much going on in life to invite an unnecessary mess into it - my 2 kobo.
