OYO ASSEMBLY TO CONFIRM JUSTICE TAJUDEEN ABDUL'GANIYU AS PRESIDENT, CUSTOMARY COURT OF APPEAL

Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has forwarded a letter requesting for the confirmation of appointment of Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammad Abdul Ganiyu as the President Customary Court of Appeal, Oyo State to the State House of Assembly.

The request follows the recommendation of Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammad Abdul Ganiyu to the National Judicial Council as President of the Court of Appeal by the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission.

According to the letter, ” Consequent upon the request, the National Judicial Council has recommended Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammad Abdul Ganiyu as the new President of Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal.”

The position became vacant due to the retirement of former President of the Customary Court of Appeal in Oyo State, Hon. Justice Moshood Akintunde Abass.

BIOGRAPHY OF HON. JUSTICE TAJUDEEN MUHAMMAD ABDULGANIYU.

His Lordship, Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammed Abdul Ganiyu was born on 19th January 1962. 

He attended Bayero University, Kano between 1987 to 1991 and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos in 1991 and was called to the Bar in December 1992.

His Lordship observed the mandatory National Youth Service at the Cross-Rivers State Ministry of Justice, Ogoja between 1992 and 1993.

He joined the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, Ibadan in April 1994 where he served as a Counsel at the Legal Drafting and Ministerial Counselling Department as well as Legal Drafting and Parliamentary Counselling Department at various times till Year 2007.

Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammed Abdul Ganiyu obtained a Master’s degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1999 and also obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Lagos in 2000. 

He served as the Administrator - General and Public Trustee, Oyo State between 2007 and 2009 and was appointed as the Director of Mediation in 2009 and served in the office till 2010 when he was returned to the Department of Legal Drafting and Parliamentary Counseling as the Director.

His Lordship served as Director of Public Prosecutions from 2013, a position he held until 2018 when he was appointed as a Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, a position, he holds till date and has been on the panel of Election Petition Tribunals in Enugu and Benue states.  

He is happily married with children.
