As 2023 World Food Day is being marked by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology Eleyele Ibadan, members of the Public have been called upon to drink adequate water daily for a sound health and physical well being.
The Provost, Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Pharmacist (Mrs.) Oluyemisi Oyewo made the call while declaring open activities and celebrations put in Place by Nutrition and Dietetics department of the College to mark this year's World Food Day globally, annually celebrated on the 16th of October.
The Provost who was represented by the Director of Works, Engr. Ayokunmi Ojerinde said the theme for this year's World Food Day was relevant and concise in view of the inevitable role of water within the body system.
The provost enjoined Nigerians to avoid starving themselves of the required quantity of water every day.
Delivering his lecture on the theme: Water is Life, Water is Food, Leave no one Behind, the guest lecturer from the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Dietician Emmanuel Oyebamiji, stressed the need for adequate intake of water by people for a healthy living.
He noted that no digestion could come up within the body system without water and no one could survive without stressing that people should now be better informed and educated on the essence of water for a sound health condition and not underrate water advising them to drink and use water for their daily survival.
Hand washing procedures were demonstrated using water and soap in a bid to promote clean and healthy living habit among the people.
