WUMI OLADEJI, FATAI BUHARI, LAUTECH V.C OTHER HONOURED BY N.U.T

 


The immediate past Chairperson, Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji has been honoured with the Teachers Advocate Award.

The award presentation, which was held at the Ogbomoso Township Stadium on Wednesday, was to commemorate the 2023 Educative Word Search Race.

Appreciating the NUT for finding her worthy of the recognition, the two-term lawmaker, said the labour and sacrifices teachers make for the growth and development of the society can never be under estimated and urged them to continue to give in their best to justify the commitment of Oyo state government, under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde towards the welfare of teachers and improving the standard and quality of education in Oyo State.

Hon. Oladeji, who dedicated the award to teachers in Ogbomoso North and Oyo State in general, reiterated her commitment towards promoting the course of the teaching profession at all times.

According to her, having been a member of the state assembly, I place premium on defending any bill or motion that has to do with education and our children in the state. 

"Education is not something government alone can dabble into and achieve a complete success, but it should be seen as a joint venture among the stakeholders and whenever we see an individual or organization that is committed to the progress of education either through the pupils or the teachers, such an individual or organization needs to be appreciated, encouraged and celebrated. 

In his goodwill message, Alhaji Monsur Ejide, commended the leadership of NUT Ogbomoso North Local Branch for deeming it fit to recognize the people who have played important role in developing the education sector in the state and encouraged the teachers to always give in their best, saying whatever the pupils learned today is what they are going to exhibit tomorrow.

The lawmaker was honoured by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ogbomoso North Local Government Branch, alongside Senator representing Oyo North, Fatai Buhari, Registrar, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Prof. Olusegun Ajiboye, acting Vice Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University, Prof. ROM Kalilu and Tutor General/PS, TESCOM, Ogbomoso Zone, Pastor Olatunde Suulola, among other prominent indigenes of the town.

OYO ASSEMBLY TO CONFIRM JUSTICE TAJUDEEN ABDUL'GANIYU AS PRESIDENT, CUSTOMARY COURT OF APPEAL

Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has forwarded a letter requesting for the confirmation of appointment of Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammad Abdul Ganiyu as the President Customary Court of Appeal, Oyo State to the State House of Assembly. The request follows the recommendation of Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammad Abdul Ganiyu to the National Judicial Council as President of the Court of Appeal by the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission. According to the letter, ” Consequent upon the request, the National Judicial Council has recommended Hon. Justice Tajudeen Muhammad Abdul Ganiyu as the new President of Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal.” The position became vacant due to the retirement of former President of the Customary Court of Appeal in Oyo State, Hon. COURT FORFEIT TWO OIL BUNKERING VESSEL TO GOVERNMENT

Two Federal High Courts sitting in Abuja has ordered the forfeiture of MT Kali and MT Harbor Spirit, two bunkering vessels to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The two vessels were recently arrested by operatives of TSSNL in conjunction with the special task force set up by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla. Delivering an interim order of forfeiture in the case filed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, Justice J. K. Omotosho yesterday ordered that MT Harbor Spirit and its content be forfeited to the Federal Government pending when any party might show cause why the order should not be made final within six months. The police, in the charge between the IGP v. MT Kali & 22 others, had arraigned the vessel and its crew members before Justice J. O. Abdulmalik.
