KOGI: 18 DAYS TO GO, YAHAYA BELLO APPOINT CARETAKER CHAIRMEN



News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the appointments came at the heels of the expiration of the tenure of the elected council chairmen mid December 2023.

Bello’s Media Aide, Onogwu Muhammed, in a statement issued in Lokoja said the appointments were in accordance with the Re-enacted Law of the Kogi State, outlining the establishment, composition, structure, finance, and functions of the local government areas.

Muhammad said: “Gov Bello has approved the appointments of distinguished persons to serve as caretaker chairmen for the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

“The governor’s action is aimed at efficiently filling the void left by the former local government chairmen who have recently completed their commendable tenure of office.

These caretaker chairmen, carefully selected for their competence and dedication, are poised to steer the ship of their respective local government areas with unwavering commitment and resolve.”

The list of the caretaker chairmen comprised

Adavi – Rasheed Bashiru Okatengwu.

Ajaokuta – Haruna Aliyu -Ogidi.

Ankpa – Adamu Yahaya-Mohammed

Bassa – Theophilus Adamu

Dejuna – John Urah

Ibahi- Emmanuel Uge

Idah –  Amade Egwuda-Ochijenu

Igalamela-Odolu – Cosmas Attabor-Ilemona

Ijumu- Ibrahim Haruna

Kabba-Bunu –  Zaccueus Dare-Michael

Kogi – Musa Abdulmalik

Lokoja –  Abdullahi Adamu

Mopa-Muro –  Ademila Bello

The new appointees to fill the vital vacant positions in the state include; 

Habibat Oyiza Tijani, State’s Accountant-General, 

Abdulrazaq Muhammed, Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, 

Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, Auditor-General for Local Governments, 

Kadiri Mohammed Okeji, Special Adviser on Finance, 

Isah Taofeeq, Director-General, Project Monitoring Agency.

To strengthen the security architecture of the state in the area of intelligence and information gathering, Bello also appointed Security Advisers from all the Federal Constituencies of the state.G

oke Okparison, Zonal Security Adviser, Okene/Ogori, 

Mustapha Aliyu Aka’aba, Zonal Security Adviser, Ajaokuta, 

Salami Joseph Omuya, Zonal Security Adviser, Adavi/Okehi,

These appointments take immediate effect.

BETTA EDU: EFCC RECOVERS 30 BILLION NAIRA

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has so far recovered 30 Billion naira for the Federal Government while it has also placed 50 bank accounts under investigation in the ongoing probe of the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, including the erstwhile chief executive officer of the now suspended National Social Investment Programme Authority (NSIPA), Halima Shehu. NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL TO CLEAR BACKLOG OF ADMISSION

  The management of Nigerian Law school has been given the go-ahead to clear the back log of admission for qualified law graduates who are yet to be admitted for the mandatory one year training Programme for legal practitioners in Nigeria.
