IBADAN SOUTH-WEST L.G CHAIRMAN LEADS ANTI-CULTISM WAR TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS

The Executive Chairman, Ibadan South-West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande has appealed to students to shun cultism in our secondary schools.

Hon. Kehinde Akande made this appeal during the National Campaign against Cultism tagged, "Operation Campus Storm" (OPS) led by Dr.Olufemi Micheal of the University of Ibadan.

A statement by Oyekunbi Adediran, Head, Information Unit, Ibadan South-west local government stated that the chairman who was represented by the secretary to the Local Government, Hon Olumide Bello said  issues of banditry, kidnapping, ritual killings among other social vices did not just spring up overnight, but has been there in our schools and advanced to higher institutions of learning due to formation of cult groups to terrorize other academic environments.

Hon. Akande further said, parents should put in place proper parenting roles, backed with financial and educational support which must come hand in hand with moral and home training to avoid laying bad precedence for their wards

Mr Ibrahim Bolan Hafeez, Director at schools Department, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology while giving his  remarks urged students to complement the good deeds of Governor Seyi Makinde by having best results in  the forthcoming WAEC and NECO exams because this program is borne out of the passion Governor Makinde has for Education in Oyo state and further advised the students to decent and properly dressed, cultured and well behaved at all times as these attributes will serves as tell-tale signs of what the future holds for them.

He urged the students to join different educational clubs in school like, the literary and debating society among others.

Dr Olufemi Micheal the convener of the programme, "Operation Campus Storm" in his keynote address, appealed to the students to desist from social vices like hard drugs, smoking, alcohol, to prevent brain damage which can be fatal and with extreme consequences and also admonished the female students to stop indecent dressing to avoid cases of sexual harassment.

According to Dr. Femi Micheal, students should shun cultism, internet fraud, shun exam malpractice, be contented with the little their parents provide for them and concluded that education is the key to becoming great in life.

Dignitaries, including, Mrs Folasade Odekanmi, Director of Education and Social Services and Mrs Titilola Hamsat Director of Administration and General Services were on hand to grace the event.

BETTA EDU: EFCC RECOVERS 30 BILLION NAIRA

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has so far recovered 30 Billion naira for the Federal Government while it has also placed 50 bank accounts under investigation in the ongoing probe of the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, including the erstwhile chief executive officer of the now suspended National Social Investment Programme Authority (NSIPA), Halima Shehu. Both Edu and Shehu were suspended about three months ago by President Bola Tinubu over alleged financial malfeasance.  The President also suspended Social Investment Programme and, thereafter, asked the EFCC to take over the case and probe both embattled officials including anyone involved. NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL TO CLEAR BACKLOG OF ADMISSION

  The management of Nigerian Law school has been given the go-ahead to clear the back log of admission for qualified law graduates who are yet to be admitted for the mandatory one year training Programme for legal practitioners in Nigeria. This decisions formed part of the resolution of the Council for Legal Education at it's just concluded council meeting.
