REVEALED: FULL LIST OF NOMINEES, FOR FCT HIGH COURT JUDGE APPOINTMENTS

On January 28, 2024, the NBA had published a notice calling for expressions of interest from qualified legal practitioners of Bauchi, Bayelsa, Enugu, Imo, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Taraba, and Zamfara states origin for the FCT High Court Judge positions.

The shortlisted names are as follows:

In view of the above, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) hereby invite members of the Bar and the general public to submit petitions, objections, or comments on the suitability of candidates listed above for appointment as Judges of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This call follows a request by the Honorable Chief Judge of the FCT, who chairs the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of the FCT, to the NBA President. 

The Chief Judge forwarded the shortlist of candidates and requested comments on their suitability for the judicial appointments.

According to Akorede Habeeb Lawal, the National Publicity Secretary of the NBA, the exercise aims to foster the NBA’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary through a painstaking and transparent process that ensures only suitably qualified candidates of appropriate competence, character, and reputation are appointed to the Bench.

Members of the Bar and the public are invited to submit their petitions, objections, or comments in portable document format (PDF) as an attachment to the NBA President via the email address ayodeji.oni@nigerianbar.org.ng or the WhatsApp number +234 803 345 2825. 

All communications regarding this matter should be sent by the close of business on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
