Data from the health agency revealed that Nigeria accounted for 12 per cent of global maternal, stillbirths and neonatal deaths and to address this challenge, Tolu Medical Centre has embarked on a mission to sensitize pregnant women in underserved communities about the importance of antenatal care, delivery and family planning services.

The hospital's Group Managing Director, Mrs Olajumoke Caxton-Martins, emphasized the need for continued sensitization of pregnant women in underserved communities. 

She noted that education and empowerment of pregnant women would reduce death(s) from pregnancy complications and their dependence on unskilled traditional birth attendants (TBA).

Caxton-Martins stressed that the hospital's commitment to maternal health is unwavering. 

According to her, "We are dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to pregnant women and their families."

"Our goal is to reduce maternal mortality and promote healthy living, she opined."

The hospital's Medical Director, Dr. Abayomi Ayankoso, echoed Caxton-Martins' sentiments.
